Promotion and relegation has also been scrapped. This means Cambuur, who were eleven points clear at the top of the second tier, will not be going up.
Clubs were given votes to decide how the season should be ended – 16 of them are understood to have voted for promotion and relegation to be enabled.
However, a further nine sides voted against movement into different leagues, while nine more abstained from the vote entirely thus putting it on the Dutch FA to decide.
The KNVB then ultimately opted to ensure that clubs will remain in their current divisions for when football does resume in the country. It means ADO Den Haag and RKC Waalwijk will avoid relegation.

The governing body had initially said it would not entertain the option of increasing the top division to 20 teams in 2020/21.
Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte has banned professional football until September due to the COVID-19 health emergency.
The Eredivisie is the first major European league to be cancelled due to pandemic.
It raises questions whether other competitions will follow suit, including the Premier League where Liverpool currently hold a 25-point lead at the top.
