Exclusive: Marvel Studios Has Spoken With The Mandalorian’s Deborah Chow About Multiple Projects
For the last few months things in Hollywood have been pretty slow with the Coronavirus Pandemic shutting down productions, but now things are starting to get back to some kind of “normal” and information about upcoming productions is starting to leak out. Just the other day a casting notice surfaced on social media where it appears that Marvel Studios is casting the character of Echo for the Hawkeye series. Now comes something potentially even cooler.
According to one of my most reliable sources who always hits the mark, Marvel Studios has been talking with The Mandalorian‘s Deborah Chow about multiple potential projects they have in the pipeline. She’s no stranger to Marvel, as she directed episodes of Jessica Jones and Iron Fist, but this would likely be something much bigger than those Netflix shows. This is similar to what Marvel does with any director with recent a success, as they met with the directors of Bad Boys For Life not too long ago about various possibilities.
No specific project was mentioned, but one huge possibility is 2022’s Captain Marvel 2. There have been previous reports that Marvel was considering Michelle MacLaren for the movie, meaning they were looking for a female director for it, and Deborah Chow definitely has the VFX science fiction experience after The Mandalorian. Of course we can’t rule out the possibility of a Disney+ series, such as the Secret Invasion one that’s reportedly in development.
If she ends up doing something with Marvel Studios, it would be after the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series is complete. That show, which is being described as much bigger than The Mandalorian, is set to begin pre-production later in the fall before filming begins in January.
