James Milner was caught saying something naughty about Manchester United moments before Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy for the first time. The wait was over for the Reds players on Wednesday night as they finally held aloft the title they won almost four weeks ago, following their 5-3 win over Chelsea at Anfield. getty Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson leads the celebrations as the Reds side finally got their hands on the Premier League trophy For many of the squad, it was the first time they had celebrated a league triumph in their careers, but not for midfield stalwart Milner. The 34-year-old was the only player to have won the English title previously, having been crowned a Premier League champion twice before as a Man City player. And the Leeds native was caught having a few words to say about his lifelong rivals United, right before captain Jordan Henderson entered the stage to spark the title celebrations. getty Liverpool’s British stars Adam Lallana, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold celebrate with the Premier League trophy A few of the Liverpool players have been criticised for being absorbed in their phones throughout the title celebrations, with Sadio Mane in particular caught texting while the rest of the team and manager Jurgen Klopp lifted the trophy, and again when they all sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ on the Anfield pitch. But for fans, the players’ Instagram pages have provided a brilliant behind-the-scenes look into their celebrations, and Gini Wijnaldum was one who streamed the entire walk from dressing room, to the stage on the Kop, to the title lift itself. But it appears his teammates may not have been aware he was recording… As the players were introduced one-by-one to the trophy stage, Wijnaldum is heard asking Milner: “So you’ve had this three times?” The Englishman replied: “Yeah, they’re all different though, they’re all different. “I’ve only ever got a blue ribbon. This is the first time I’ve ever wanted a red ribbon, it’s always been United before… f*****g w*****s.” Milner’s comment appeared to draw a nervous laugh from Wijnaldum, who appeared to then let him know he was filming for his social media page. But Milner and the other players didn’t seem that bothered, with the Dutchman then heard saying, ‘who cares?’ Besides, it was soon lost to the moment as within a few minutes the skipper did the ‘Hendo Shuffle’, the trophy was held aloft and the celebrations really began.
