Lagos-based Robbery Gang Busted by Ogun State Police in Ijebu Ode ~ NewsEdge
In a major breakthrough, the Ogun state Police Command has arrested two members of a notorious robbery gang from Lagos who have been terrorizing the residents of Ijebu Ode and its surroundings. The suspects, identified as Muyiwa Adebola and Lukman Ogunmuyiwa, were apprehended after a distress call was received at Igbeba divisional headquarters in Ijebu Ode on March 26th, 2023.
According to the Command spokesperson, the robbers invaded the New site, Imoru Ijebu, at around 1:30 am and held residents of the area hostage at gunpoint. They made away with valuable items such as 32 different phones, three HP laptops, and a GLK Mercedes Benz car with registration number KRD 570 HM. One person, Ayoola Taiwo, was also shot and wounded by the robbers.
Following the report, the DPO Igbeba division, CSP Musiliu Doga, led his team to the scene, but the robbers fled on sighting the police. However, one of them, Muyiwa Adebola, was apprehended at Olisa area of Ijebu Ode, and one of the robbed phones was recovered from him. During interrogation, he revealed that the gang members were based in Lagos State. Subsequently, he led the police to Mushin area of Lagos, where the second suspect, Lukman Ogunmuyiwa, was arrested.
The suspects have been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation on the order of the outgoing Commissioner of Police, now AIG Frank Mba. The police have recovered some of the stolen items, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the other members of the gang.
This arrest serves as a significant victory in the fight against crime in the state, and the police are commended for their swift action in apprehending the suspects. The residents of Ijebu Ode can now breathe a sigh of relief knowing that these dangerous criminals are off the streets.
