Lagos Court Sentences Man for Stealing Three Bottles of Beer Worth N1,500 ~ NewsEdge
Ibrahim Kuye, a 28-year-old man, has been sentenced to four hours of community service by the Ogba Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos State. He was charged with two counts of stealing for allegedly trespassing into a compound and stealing three bottles of Tiger beer worth N1,500 in the Egbeda Alimosho area of the state.
During his arraignment before Magistrate O.A Ogunjobi on March 23, 2023, police Inspector Emeka Ehinze told the court that Kuye committed the offence in Egbeda, in the Alimosho area of the state. The prosecutor explained that the offence committed is punishable under Section 306(2) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The charge read, “That you, Ibrahim Kuye, on March 18, 2023, around 3 pm at Gemade Estate, Egbeda, Alimosho, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did break into No. 9 Fidelix Crescent, Gemade Estate, Egbeda, Alimosho, Lagos State, by climbing the gate of the compound, property of one Uche Uba, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 306 and punishable under Section 306(2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
During the interrogation, Kuye explained that he committed the crime out of frustration.
