Man Remanded in Prison for Allegedly Beating Another to Death in Lagos State ~ NewsEdge
A 31-year-old man named Monsuru Babatunde has been remanded in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre by a Yaba Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly murdering one Azeez Mobolaji.
Babatunde was charged with conspiracy and murder, and his friends who are still at large were said to have taken Mobolaji to an uncompleted building on August 7, 2022, around 10.20 pm at the Aseji, Ogombe area of the state and beat him, leaving him unconscious. Mobolaji was said to have died shortly after the beating.
The police prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, stated that the offences committed contravened and is punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
The magistrate, Nwaka, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending DPP advice and adjourned the case till May 25, 2023, for mention.
