Martin Keown offers to help bring Arsene Wenger back to Arsenal, says it’s a ‘massive waste’ he’s not part of

Arsene Wenger may have left his post as Arsenal boss two years ago but there’s still room for him in the club’s boardroom.
This is the view of former Gunners defender Martin Keown, who believes the Frenchman would still have plenty to offer if he was part of the club.

Keown won a load of trophies under Wenger at Arsenal

Wenger enjoyed brilliant success in north London – winning the Premier League three times and seven FA Cups in his 22-year stint.
However, the final years of his Arsenal tenure saw them fall out of the Champions League qualification spots and Wenger stood down at the end of the 2017/18 season, aged 68 at the time.
He has not been part of the club since, something that disappoints Keown, who even offered to help bring his former boss back to Arsenal himself.
Keown told Jim White on talkSPORT: “Josh Kroenke is the son of the owner and now seems to be taking an active role, he would’ve worked with Wenger.

Keown believes people at the club would love to turn to Wenger for advice

“They were happy with the money that Wenger made them with their shares. There’s been success at Arsenal Football Club, huge success so I don’t feel it’s impossible [for Wenger to come back].
“But people need to talk and maybe Arsene Wenger needs to offer his services but he may have felt that he should have been asked to do it and doesn’t want to step in now when other people are doing those roles.
“As a mediator, I would love to be able to get these people together to get Arsene Wenger back into that boardroom to help make key decisions for Arsenal Football Club.”

Wenger’s successor, Unai Emery, made a decent start to his time at Arsenal but was sacked in November following a poor run of results.
And Keown suggested Wenger should have played a role in choosing who should manage Arsenal after him and it’s a ‘massive waste’ the 70-year-old is not part of the club.
Keown added: “This guy was an incredible visionary, a hugely intelligent individual and it’s not part of the football club.
“That is a waste, a massive waste.
“I’m pretty sure the guys who work there like Edu would love to turn to Arsene Wenger in difficult moments to decide what direction the club is going.
“It’s an incredible resource they’ve lost. He’d have done it free of charge because Arsenal Football Club is his love now.”
