Muslim Community Protests Against Invasion of Mosque in Ile-Ife by Oro Adherents ~ NewsEdge
Members of the Muslim community in Ile-Ife, Osun State took to the streets in protest on Friday following an alleged invasion of a mosque by Oro adherents.
Eyewitnesses reported that the traditionalists entered the mosque during afternoon prayers and attacked the worshippers, leaving six people injured, including the chief imam of the mosque.
The protesters demanded the arrest of those behind the attack and visited the palace of the Ooni of Ife to express their grievances.
While investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident, leaders of the Muslim community, traditionalists and Christians in the town are meeting to find a peaceful resolution.
The incident has raised concerns about the need for religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the area.
