Unknown persons attacked and set ablaze a police station in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State on Monday. According to an eyewitness, the attack was carried out by angry youths who left a policeman on duty with a head injury. The reason for the attack is yet to be ascertained.

The injured officer was rushed to the emergency centre at the toll gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for further medical treatment.

While the station was on fire, officials of the Lagos State Fire Service (LSFS) were contacted and mobilised to the scene to salvage the situation.

The incident occurred a day after two Yoruba Nation agitators were arrested in the Alausa area of Lagos State with charms and weapons.

The agitators had stormed Alausa Police Division chanting, “Yoruba Nation has taken over,” and injured some police officers who attempted to disperse them.
