Singer Portable Faces Arrest as Ogun State Police Issues Ultimatum to Surrender ~ NewsEdge
The Ogun State Police Command has issued a 72-hour ultimatum for the arrest of sensational singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, following his refusal to honour police summons. In a statement by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, Portable has been instructed to report himself to the nearest police station by Friday or be arrested.
The ultimatum came after two videos went viral on social media, showing Portable cursing some officers of the Force in Ogun state. Portable had claimed that he and his staff members were wrongfully arrested by the police, but the police spokesperson explained that the arrest was due to a petition from a young studio owner, who accused Portable of assaulting him and locking up his studio.
Despite several invitations sent to him and his father, Portable refused to appear at the police station. His father has pleaded on his behalf and promised to bring him to the station. However, if Portable fails to surrender himself within the stipulated time, he will be arrested.
This is not the first time Portable has had a brush with the law. In 2022, he was escorted by his father to the Police Headquarters in Abeokuta after allegedly assaulting a disc jockey in the Sango area of the state.
The police have vowed not to tolerate any breakdown of law and order and will ensure that justice is served in the case.
