Tottenham legend Gary Mabbutt has called almost 1,000 vulnerable Spurs fans since March. The former White Hart Lane captain, who made 629 appearances for Tottenham between 1982 and 1998, has been giving up his free time to help the club’s older supporters during the coronavirus pandemic. But overall, it’s been very pleasing and very rewarding.” Carlo Ancelotti calls Everton fan during coronavirus pandemic Mabbutt was the last Spurs captain to win the FA Cup, a trophy that at one point was synonymous with the club. But since that 1991 victory, two League Cups have been won, the last in 2008 when they beat Chelsea. It is hoped current boss Jose Mourinho will be the man to end that wait for silverware this season. The task at hand has been aided by the arrivals of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid. Bale has returned on a season-long loan – seven years after leaving for a then world record £85million, while Region joined for £25m. Mabbutt has praised Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for pushing the deals through. Getty There is no doubt that Reguilon and Bale will improve Tottenham going forward “Daniel has been working very hard over the last few weeks to make sure he is in place should the opportunity arise. “As soon as the opportunity arose Daniel went straight in there [for Bale]. They were able to do a deal with Real Madrid and when they agreed to pay part of the salary, the deal was done. “It was as quick as that. He brought in Sergio Reguilon as well who is also a fantastic player with potential. “Looking at the second-half against Southampton [in the 5-2 win], it showed how things are starting to come together.”,
