Tragedy Strikes as Container Truck Fell Crush Cart Pusher to Death in Lagos ~ NewsEdge
On Sunday, a cart pusher whose identity is yet to be revealed lost his life in the Dopemu area of Lagos State after a container truck carrying concrete stones fell on him.
The driver of the truck was reportedly driving at a high speed when he lost control and the truck fell on its side.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident and stated that its operatives recovered the victim’s lifeless body.
According to a statement from LASTMA’s spokesperson, Taofiq Adebayo, one of its officers in the area, Badmus Abdul-Akeem, revealed that a preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the container lost concentration while driving at a high speed with another trailer before falling off the road and blocking the entire BRT corridor inward Dopemu.
The driver of the fallen truck ran away from the scene, but LASTMA officials retrieved a photocopy of his driver’s license.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and urged truck drivers and other road users to strictly adhere to safety standards while driving on highways across the state.
He emphasized that speed limit road signs were erected to guide truck drivers and other road users on speed limitations across the state.
