Drew Barrymore Says She Will “Never Forgive” Herself for Drinking Too Much on ‘WWHL’

After Drew Barrymore‘s memorable 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, she’s ready to apologize to host Andy Cohen. In a clip from her upcoming talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress expresses regret over how much she drank during her last visit to Cohen’s show, People reports.
“It was on your show, and I drank too much and I have never forgiven myself, nor will I ever forgive myself,” Barrymore says in the clip. Barrymore last appeared on Watch What Happens Live over two years ago with her Santa Clarita Diet co-star Timothy Olyphant. At the time, some fans caught on, noting Barrymore slurring on camera. “Drew is so drunk lol,” one wrote, while another added, “She’s clearly drunk and I’m living for it.”
But Barrymore owns up to it, admitting she’s an “imperfect person” who slipped up on the show. “I tout that, and I’ve had that liberty since I was a kid because it was all out there,” she says in the clip. “And it was either ‘boo-hoo about it’ or say, ‘God, it’s sort of redeeming to not have to pretend to be perfect.’ But I really want to apologize to you because I really, I just, I will never let that happen again. I’m so sorry.”
As apologetic as his former guest was, Cohen wasn’t phased at all by the incident. “I’m used to people being overserved on my show, and so I don’t even really have a totally clear memory of it,” the WWHL host admits. “But you don’t need to apologize to me for being overserved on my show, that happens. You’re in a great club of people.”
Barrymore’s new talk show is set to premiere on CBS Sept. 14. While we’re still a few weeks away from the premiere, we can expect to see some celebrity guests like Cohen, as well as some human interest stories and lifestyle content. According to its official description, The Drew Barrymore Show is “optimism TV, bringing information, inspiration, and entertainment to the daytime audience … celebrating every part of humanity along the way.”
