Kate Middleton Finds a Mask Worthy of Royalty

One of the most valuable things celebrities can do at present is to highlight the necessity of wearing a mask. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, face coverings have been recommended by doctors and health organizations, but in some places, folks have been slow to adopt the potentially life-saving accessory. In England, the official mandate regarding masks only came into effect last month. Thankfully, many of its best-known citizens have begun to take it to heart, including Kate Middleton. When the Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to Baby Basics’s Sheffield center this afternoon, she did so in a micro-floral print cotton version from the London childrenswear brand, Amaia. Covered in Liberty’s multicolor “Pepper” pattern, it coordinated perfectly with her white silk shirtdress from Suzannah—last seen during her 2019 trip to Wimbledon—and Tabitha Simmons Dela heels.Photo: Getty ImagesOn hand to help families in need, Middleton unpacked donations with fellow volunteers and spoke with parents who’ve faced challenges in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Throughout these interactions, she wore the appropriate face coverings, becoming the second royal to be spotted in a cloth mask. The Duchess of Cornwall embraced the concept first, and now Middleton’s influence as a fashion icon is sure to encourage others to wear their mask daily. At only £15 with 30% of the proceeds going to NHS Charities, the reusable Amaia version is a sensible choice that’s certain to sell out.,
