At the time, FA chief executive Martin Glenn said it was an ‘opportunity to unleash an unprecedented amount of investment into community football’ rather ‘selling the soul of the game.’ Talk of the possible purchase had died down since the initial discussions, though rumours of a sale have now resurfaced as the FA face financial losses due to coronavirus with 124 redundancies being made.
