Manchester United have six days to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. The clock is ticking on a deal, which the German giants are demanding gets done in good time so as not to disrupt their season preparations. Sounds coming out concerning the move all appear good though and a £110million transfer to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s resurgent Red Devils looks all but completed. He’s a trailblazer for young English stars and a generational talent tipped to ‘dominate for a decade’ by analysts after his astonishing three seasons over in the Bundesliga. Sancho is already featuring for England too, forming a formidable frontline with Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling throughout Euro 2020 qualifying. And now the youngster from London is set to make his way to Manchester United in a game-changing transfer which has the potential to throw the Red Devils into title contention. Sancho scored 17 goals and registered 16 assists in the 2019/20 Bundesliga season Sancho is the added spice the Premier League needs and he could further develop his burgeoning reputation as a Ballon d’Or challenger to Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk. His hop over to Bundesliga behemoths Dortmund at just 17 showed he’s got gumption, while his performances prove he’s got the guile to match it. He achieved several firsts in the yellow and black thanks to his tender age, and Sancho has now matured beyond his years. On the plus side, he’s going to strengthen the club in a position which has needed bolstering for a few seasons – arguably since Antonio Valencia’s transition to right-back in 2014/15. The Red Devils, bar Daniel James for a period last campaign, have had no flying winger on that flank, instead opting for the likes of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata to offer a narrower threat, allowing Valencia to bomb forward with great success. AFP or licensors Sancho will hope to bring his blistering form for Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United From 2020/21 onwards, though, Sancho can give the focus on this side of the pitch and the fact Aaron Wan-Bissaka is behind him will let him be at his attacking best too. The sad thing is Greenwood will see some of the time he getting on the right flank diminish. It’s generally accepted the United academy graduate will eventually be a No.9 and may still get minutes here, particularly in cup contests. But Sancho will be his direct replacement on the right, with very little shift in Solskjaer’s main tactical system. It’s a round peg a round hole – the perfect transfer. 3-4-1-2 Now, this is where the fun begins for United. Throughout the campaign, and particularly in the Europa League, Solskjaer has turned to a 3-4-2-1 – a formation Sancho is used to given Lucien Favre’s mid-season swap to it. The 20-year-old has occupied each position in the attacking trident in Germany, whether he’s the left or right sided forward, or roaming free behind the two attackers. This versatility will enable United to unlock even the sternest of defences with a small twist of their £110m skeleton key. Against teams defending in a low block there is even a chance we could see him in the No.10 role with Bruno Fernandes moving back into a double pivot with Paul Pogba. Just the thought will be enough to get some Red Devils supporters salivating; surely Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial and can sink any opponents with that trio supplying the bullets?,
